6 reasons why it’s never too late to achieve your goals
It’s usually sparked off by feelings of trepidation and sometimes even performance anxiety, which we all experience at some point in our lives as we journey towards achieving a set goal.
These feelings may become dreadfully apparent as we approach a landmark year or the end of a phase or season, or as we uneasily watch the months and years fly by.
Consequently, realising that we’re yet to achieve all or some of our set goals often sets us off on a downward spiral of hopelessness and demoralisation.
Yet, things don’t always have to be that way, as it’s never too late to achieve our goals.
In our journey towards achieving anything, it’s always better to be kind to ourselves and value every minute or huge effort as laudable.
While this may not be our natural response to our perceived failures, it’s worth trying.

And indeed, it’s never too late to achieve your goals and here are the six reasons why.
#1 Take off your self-imposed time limits
We need to take off the self-imposed time limits that stifle our progress and restrict us from getting on with achieving our goals.
In all honesty, it doesn’t matter if it’s the end of the year or we’re about to clock a landmark year. It’s never too late to start.
I can’t help but agree with the ancient Igbo (a tribe in eastern Nigeria, West Africa) proverb that says:
“Anytime you wake up is your morning”.
This statement implies that ANYTIME we decide to focus on achieving our goals is always a GOOD TIME.
#2 Failing or falling isn’t the end but a bend
As long as we’re still here, we will always encounter roadblocks or challenges.
When faced with challenges, fail, or fall, it’s okay to cry or be upset about it.
But when we’re done, we must wipe our tears, learn the necessary lessons, and go back to the blueprint or drawing board to re-strategise.

#3 Every effort doesn’t lead to a win
Every effort has its defined purpose and should be celebrated whether it leads to a win or not.
Although, some lead to wins, the others are purposed to build the grit, resilience, and perseverance necessary for the rigours ahead.
Therefore, if we identify and understand each effort for what it is, our disappointment level reduces when an action doesn’t lead to an immediate win.
#4 There is no such thing as a small win
Every win or baby step is worth celebrating.
No matter how little it may seem, it all adds up to the big picture eventually.
Keep taking those baby steps and remember to give yourself a ‘well done’ pat on the back every step of the way.
The more you celebrate your progress, the more encouraged you are to keep going.
#5 Write down the vision
Without a written down plan, you fly blind.
Your notes or written down plans are very critical; they are your map or blueprint. They are to you what a Google map is to a driver.
Your notes serve as a reference point for every twist and turn of the journey to achieving your goals.
Howbeit, the big picture plans may not always make complete sense at the beginning.
Still, if you keep going at it consistently and long enough, the vision becomes more apparent, and it all begins to come together, eventually.

#6 Keep your posture simple
Know and understand your pattern and capacity, then posture yourself daily to push one step beyond your previous limit.
As long as you successfully move ahead of where you previously were, that’s productivity enough.
The aim here is to be the best version of yourself daily.
If what that requires from you is baby steps, take those baby steps.
Likewise, if giant steps or a leap, do it knowing your capacity but gradually pushing the limits in bite sizes.
The most crucial point is making daily and consistent progress by putting one foot ahead of the other.
In Conclusion
Whether the weather is good or terrible, there’s NEVER the wrong time to get started on our goals.
To tell the truth, all we need is the push power to place one foot ahead of the other and keep going until we arrive.
