Who Exactly Is Jesus Christ?
Who Exactly Is Jesus Christ? I always think that this is a fascinating question.
This is mainly because, unlike the question, ‘does God exist?’, very few people ever question whether Jesus existed.
It is universally accepted based on historical evidence that a man called Jesus walked on this earth and taught people over 2000 years ago.
This leads some people to believe that Jesus was a good teacher or a prophet, or indeed a godly moral person with a good sense of ethical values.
Who Exactly Is Jesus Christ?
This is where the real debate begins, with the true identity of Jesus Christ. When we want to discover the identity of Jesus, then the Bible teaches us that Jesus was so much more than just a man.
In Matthew 16:13 – 17, it states:
13 Now, when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
The above passage shows us who the disciples believed Jesus to be, but a better question is who did Jesus believe himself to be? Well, I believe that Jesus pointed people to God through Himself.
He said that it is through Him that we come to the Father. It is through Him that we are spiritually fed, “I am the bread of life.”
It is through Him that we can escape from disillusionment and darkness in our lives, for he says:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
Jesus Christ
So, who is Jesus? He is the Messiah, the Son of God, the healer of all and the saviour of the world.

Why Is Jesus Important?
Romans 3:23 says it this way:
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
This verse shows that no one is perfect and that we have all fallen short of the glory of God through sin.
John 3:16 says:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”
Jesus is important because He is the way to the Father, where we are forgiven for our sin and receive the free gift of grace of salvation.
Is God And Jesus The Same?
John 10: 30 has Jesus declare:
There are many instances in the Bible where Jesus reveals His oneness with God but none more so than in the prologue of John’s gospel where we are told:
“In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
All things came into being through him, and without him, not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not merely aspects or modes of God but are three in one and live mutually in love with one another.
Why Do We Need Jesus In Our Daily Lives?
Jesus is essential in our daily lives because all things have come into being through Him, and he is the way, the truth and the life and nothing and no one can come to the Father except through Him.
Bringing our selves, body and soul to Jesus every day is how we can live a life worthy of being a disciple and bringing the kingdom of God to the here and now.
Does Jesus Still Heal People?
I believe that Jesus heals people every day. I sometimes get asked why people don’t see miracles anymore, and I always answer that people are just looking in the wrong places.
Miracles happen every day in the encounters that we have and in the people that we meet. Healing can happen in such a variety of ways for people, it can be physical, but it can also be peaceful and full of hope and joy.
It can be a reconciling of difference and a coming together, and it can be a healing of the heart. I encounter healing every day!
Who Is Jesus To Me Personally?
Jesus is my all in all. He is my life and my constant companion. He is the one I turn to in times of trouble and joy, and he brings me peace.
Why Is Jesus Relevant In Today’s Pandemic World?
In this world of brokenness and isolation, we can easily feel lost. We can easily give up and think that there is no point.
However, there has also been a beauty to this pandemic situation because there has been an opportunity for people to reconnect differently in the middle of the destruction and loss.
There has been an extraordinary outpouring of care and concern for others during this time, and we have been allowed to slow down and realise just what is important in life.
I believe that it is in service to, and loving others as Christ served us through his death and resurrection, is the most important element of our faith.
That includes when times are difficult, and they involve personal risk and cost.
Social distancing may be the order of the day, but that does not mean that we should distance ourselves relationally.
We are called to serve one another by Jesus, which has never been more important than in today’s world.
Jesus Is The Same Yesterday, Today, And Forever
Jesus has never changed, and His message remains the same.
He was in the beginning with the Father before all time and will be there at the end of the age.
The question for us is whether we will join Him in His kingdom by the way that we live our lives and the way that we serve Him in the here and now.

Colossians 2:8-9 KJV
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. [9] For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Jesus Is God. He is Lord And Saviour.

This is a brilliant addition to Jackie’s piece.
Christ is indeed, God, Lord and Saviour
Jackie McNair did a brilliant exposition on the person and excess of Jesus to the world.

Dear Duke,
Thanks. That is so true. I learned a lot too.
Thank you Ibi for this article on the personality of Jesus and how we can build personal relationships with Him, walking in faith and trust that He can help us through all times…good and bad. I am encouraged. God bless you and Pastor Jackie
Hi Bassey,
Thank you too. Jackie did a fantastic job of revealing the personality of Jesus and how we can build our relationship with Him
Thanks Ib for embarking on this enlightenment campaign, by bringing speakers like Jackie who are vast in this topic.
Indeed Jesus is the whole essence of our existence. His statement that He is the way, the truth and the life, sums it all up. The biggest challenge for many is their unbelief. If only we can believe, all things will become new for us.
Gal.3:13, says “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us….”. It is therefore very important for us to truly develop a heart of thanksgiving for all Jesus means to us
Dear Niyi,
Thank you. Jackie is very vast in this topic and was able to reveal Jesus to all unequivocally. He is our one and only redeemer as the scripture says.
Thank you for reminding us about the importance of thanksgiving.
